Healing Support for Survivors

Your trauma is not a life sentence.
No matter what happened to you, I'm here to help you imagine life beyond pain and suffering. I am committed to working with you to regain a sense of control, to break through the shame and guilt that so often accompany this journey.
I believe you.
So many of my clients describe a similar experience of not being believed when they share what happened to them. In some cases, this has gone on for years. I won't ask you to tell me what or why or how. I won't ask you to explain or prove yourself to me. Our work together begins from the premise that what you experienced is real and that's all there is to it.
I see myself as your partner in healing.
An advocate on your behalf, forever in your corner. I may have lots of experience navigating the contours of this work, but you are the expert. My job is to walk with you along the path towards empowerment. I do this by moving at your speed, showing up reliably and faithfully, and engaging many different sides of you (creative, spiritual, emotional, relational) as we chart a pathway into your next chapter.
A relational approach that harmonizes mind, body and spirit.
Through our work together, we will explore what it means for trauma to sit within your body and how it has manifested itself into behaviors and actions that may once have been means for survival but are no longer serving you.
-
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) helps my clients break unhelpful thought patterns through present-moment awareness. I find it effective for managing shame and guilt brought by traumatic experiences through fostering a non-judgmental relationship with thoughts. This approach empowers clients to respond to challenges with clarity and resilience.
-
Somatic Experiencing (SE) believes the body has the innate ability to heal itself by processing and releasing stored trauma. I find it effective for restoring nervous system regulation and easing the effects of stress and trauma. This approach empowers clients to build strength and a deeper sense of safety within themselves and within their relationships.
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps clients process and integrate distressing memories to reduce their emotional charge. The body holds a lifetime of memories, which can lead to adaptive or maladaptive habits. EMDR is effective for alleviating trauma symptoms and promoting adaptive coping.
-
As a registered yoga teacher, I use elements of yoga to help clients connect with their bodies and minds through movement and breath. This practice is known to ease tension, improve flexibility, and foster mindfulness. Yoga asanas are an effective way to release some of the stress that compounds in our bodies.

How We Can Work Together
Individual Therapy
I typically meet with clients once per week. Sessions often unfold organically, sometimes springing from a specific behavior or topic you are wanting to explore and sometimes from observations we make together about what's taking place in the present moment.
Group Therapy
Group sessions take place virtually on Monday nights. Themes vary from week to week, but at the core is a shared commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment in which to make sense of and ultimately heal from childhood sexual abuse.
